Focus on the Heart: Benefits of HeartMath Techniques for Singers!

Thursday 28th January 2027, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM (London Time)

£30 - UK £30 - International

What if singing could do more than move us emotionally? What if it could also help us feel more balanced, connected, and in tune with ourselves and others?

Join Dr. Nicole Mattfeld for an engaging exploration of the science behind singing and its powerful connection to our physical, emotional, and social well-being. Drawing on research from the HeartMath Institute over the past decade, this course explores the relationship between music, the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, and the body’s capacity to cultivate greater physiological and emotional coherence. Discover how heart coherence, sympathetic vibration, and physiological entrainment may contribute to a deeper sense of balance, connection, and well-being.

Dr. Mattfeld will highlight key research findings, including insights from her own study, and explore how these concepts can be applied by solo vocalists, ensemble singers, and music educators. Learn how intentional singing practices can support overall well-being while fostering a stronger connection to oneself, fellow musicians, and the music itself.

But this experience goes beyond the science! Dr. Mattfeld will share practical exercises and accessible techniques you can bring directly into your rehearsals, classrooms, and personal practice. Discover ways to integrate HeartMath principles and music-making to nurture greater awareness, connection, and a more meaningful singing experience.

Ultimately, this course invites us to reimagine the choral and music classroom through a more compassionate, whole-person lens—one that honors not only the music we create, but also the people creating it. Explore how the intersection of HeartMath and singing can enrich our teaching, deepen musical connection, and support the well-being of every voice in the room.
