Foundations of Vocology Student Christie Valeriano Becomes a PAVA-Recognised Vocologist!

Tuesday 13th October 2026

We're delighted to celebrate the achievement of Voice Study Centre Vocology student Christie Valeriano, who has officially become a PAVA-Recognised Vocologist (PAVA-RV)!

Christie has successfully completed the recognition process with the Pan American Vocology Association (PAVA), marking an exciting milestone in her professional development.

Having previously studied on our Certificate in Foundations of Vocology with Adam Roberts, Christie went on to pursue PAVA-RV recognition, successfully passing the examination on her first attempt before completing the remaining requirements.

Reflecting on her experience, Christie shared:

"I am a very busy working vocal coach, and I wanted something which would challenge me in terms of its rigour but was still geared toward practical application. The PAVA-RV exam process really helped me expand my knowledge base, and the Vocology certificate at the VSC was indispensable to the preparation process. Highly recommend."

Christie recently celebrated her achievement at the 2026 PAVA Symposium in London, sharing how honoured she felt to receive the recognition and to connect with others in the vocology community.

We're incredibly proud to see one of our Vocology students achieve this professional milestone and delighted to have been a part of her journey.

Congratulations, Christie! We wish you every success as you continue your work in vocology.

Yesterday, Voice Study Centre hosted Lynn Helding, Professor of Practice in Vocal Arts and Opera and Coordinator of Vocology and Voice Pedagogy at the USC Thornton School of Music. Her presentation was a compelling exploration into the relationship between voice science and vocal art. Titled "Inspired Not Bound: The Promise of Science-Informed Voice Pedagogy," the session tackled a question that has lingered for over 170 years: If voice science is so rich and transformative, why hasn't it been more fully adopted across all voice studios?
