Wednesday 8th July 2026

As part of the Musical Theatre Research Alliance and Voice Study Centre, Strand 1: Vocal Health and Sustainability in Musical Theatre launches with a unique interview series: “In Conversation With.”

Bringing together leading practitioners from across the musical theatre industry, this series explores vocal health, sustainability, and current professional practice through a range of professional perspectives. Each guest responds to the same core questions, creating a valuable collection of insights, experiences, and approaches that can help inform future research, training, and industry practice.

The second conversation in the series featured Singing Teacher and Clinical Voice Rehabilitation Coach Besfort Williams, whose work across performer training, vocal rehabilitation, and professional musical theatre practice offers a valuable perspective on vocal health and sustainability.

In this discussion, Besfort shares his perspectives on supporting vocal health within the demands of musical theatre, drawing on nearly two decades of experience working with singers, actors, and dancers across performance training and voice rehabilitation.

Essential viewing for performers, teachers, students, and anyone interested in the future of healthy and sustainable musical theatre practice.
