MA Voice Pedagogy Student Published in the Musical Theatre Educators Alliance Journal
Thursday 26th February 2026We’re delighted to celebrate the recent publication of our MA Voice Pedagogy student Tahirih Vejdani, whose feature article has appeared in the Musical Theatre Educators Alliance Journal (MTEA).
Titled Training Tomorrow's Artists: Cross-Canada Conversation with Musical Theatre Program Leaders, Tahirih’s article explores how musical theatre training is evolving across Canada and highlights the perspectives of the educators shaping the next generation of artists.
Below, Tahirih reflects on the inspiration behind the piece, a key takeaway, and what she hopes readers will gain from it:
"This article grew out of my deep curiosity about how musical theatre training is evolving across Canada, and my desire to better understand the experiences of the educators shaping the next generation of artists. Through conversations with program leaders from a range of institutions, I was struck by both the shared challenges they face around student wellbeing, sustainability, and access but also the innovative, values-driven work happening in classrooms and studios every day.
One of my key takeaways is that strong training today is no longer just about technical excellence. It’s about developing resilient, adaptable, and self-aware artists who are equipped for long, healthy careers. I hope readers come away with a renewed appreciation for the complexity of musical theatre education, and with practical ideas for how we can continue to support students as whole people, not just performers.
For me, this project also reflects my ongoing commitment to bridging research, teaching, and professional practice. It reinforced my belief that meaningful change happens when educators share knowledge, listen deeply, and remain open to growth together."
Congratulations to Tahirih on this significant milestone!
