Jo is a Kent-based community paediatric speech and language therapist, specializing in supporting children with severe and profound hearing loss, and voice disorders. An enthusiastic amateur singer throughout her life, Jo furthered her passion by completing her Post-Graduate Certificate in Voice Pedagogy with The Voice Study Centre in 2020, achieving a distinction. She notably presented her initial research at the British Voice Association’s Choice for Voice Conference in 2021.

Building on her MA studies and keen to expand her voice pedagogy research, Jo collaborated with Dr. Tim Pring on her latest project. Their research, titled "Amateur Choir Singers – does good vocal health matter?," was recently published in the International Journal of Language & Communication Disorders. This article delves into the experiences of amateur singers, examining their engagement with warm-up and cool-down routines, their general vocal health, the resources they access for help and advice, and their responses to receiving a vocal diagnosis and treatment. This publication highlights Jo's commitment to exploring vocal health within the amateur singing community and providing valuable insights for both singers and voice professionals.
